Though any ScrumDo user on a team has the ability to generate a report, it's usually folks who are fulfilling some form of management function that are the frequent users of this functionality.

ScrumDo is unique in the way it segregates workflow design from workflow reporting. From a workflow visualization standpoint, our Board Editor allows users to create complex workflow designs that aren't constrained by design containers. From a workflow reporting standpoint, users can define exactly what components of their workflow should be relevant to calculating certain metrics.  PATTING OURSELVES ON THE BACK HERE: No other tool in the marketplace has this capability.  Report Profiles are the special sauce that allows this to happen.  

ScrumDo Report Profiles allow users to generate different metrics about their work delivery process. What information and insights can these metrics provide? Let's take a look.

Perhaps a delivery team has the perception that a lot of their work tends to get escalated as urgent work right when they're in the middle of working on it. Such a perception might be worthy of further analysis.  So if their visual board is not already setup to capture workflow distinctions like escalation, they might edit their visual board to look something like this:

In the above example, the team has visualized their workflow so it contains two "swim lanes" (a term of art taken from Kanban).  As you can see from the labels that have been attached to these swimlanes, work cards appearing within them possess different levels of urgency (Urgent and Normal).  Teams will often establish different policies for how they want to address work depicted in these lanes.  Let's assume Card TW-2 on the above board starts off as routine work.  As you can see, it's currently in the "Todo" cell for the standard lane. 

Now let's assume work began on the card, and as the team has experienced in the past, was escalated to an urgent status mid-way through their efforts.  When this escalation takes place, the card would be moved from the standard lane to the expedite lane:

Using the above workflow visualization as an example, it might be relevant to capture metrics for work that flows through all the cells of the standard lane only, or all the cells of the expedite lane only, or both lanes combined.  Creating separate profiles against each of these combinations will provide different data visualizations, better enabling users to capture different insights from the different patterns these different datasets will produce.

NOTE: The Report Profile can be applied in the first 4 reports: CFD, Lead Time Histogram (LTH), Aging, and BurnUp/BurnDown charts.
